Heart stent vs drugs

CNN is reporting that new research suggests that in some cases drug therapy can be as effective as a heart stent in reducing problems associated with heart disease and angina.

There appear to be some exceptions to the main suggestions of the study so as always you'll want to consult your physician to determine the optimal therapy for your own condition, but this appears to be an encouraging development if you'd rather take heart medications than have a heart operation.

Hi I just wanted to respond to this posting. I am known as the Stent Lady for I have 5 stent implants that gave me a second chance at life. This happened on a Friday night so the Medical staff pumped me up with thinners and pain meds to keep me from dying. Most critical was a flapping open lesion one stent covered. My father has had 2 open Heart bypass', a stent and now drugs. It took him a very long time to recover on the bypass. In a month I was walking 1-2 miles a day after stents. A shorter recovery time for me anyway. So everyones situation is different. With these Stents come Stent cards. I lost mine which really was a loss...luckily I found them a few months later. Come to find out these cards are the only records. I made copies but they did not last I forgot them in my pockets and they got destroyed. I found a company that duplicated my cards... Stent card dot com. They can take a washing without getting destroyed. So with that all of you that read this remember to take your thinners as prescribed and get some exercise. Do whatever you can do to keep moving. Walking, riding a bike. Just take it easy if you get tightness. It takes time but you can do it!

Have a Healthy day!
